Aging is associated with decline in a multitude of cognitive processes and brain functions. A growing body of literature suggests that age-related decline in cognition could sometimes be reduced through fitness training. Several studies found that fitness training was found to have robust but selective benefits for cognition. The magnitude of fitness effects on cognition was also dependent on a number of programmatic and methodological factors, including the length of the fitness-training intervention, the type of the intervention, the duration of training sessions, and the gender of the study participants.
