Another year, same result. You have set your New Year’s resolution with the best of intentions, only to see them not come to fruition once again. Maybe you ate too much, did not exercise for a few days, or did not meet your target weight. Such setbacks have a way of discouraging us from continuing with our resolutions, while we conveniently settle for dropping the whole plan altogether.
Let this year be different. The key is in setting attainable and realistic goals. While this will take some time and careful planning, it will be the first step in setting you up for success in the long run. Here are some important pointers to help you set and stick with you chosen goals:
- Make sure each goal belongs to you and is not something that is meant to please someone else
- Create a plan of how you will achieve each goal
- Make each goal attainable, starting with short-term goals that will lead up to long-term ones
- Write each goal down, increasing accountability
- Reward your successes with each goal
"HAVE" LANGUAGE I "CAN" LANGUAGE
I don’t have the time. I can make the time.
I have too many obligations. I can set priorities.
I have no will power. I can keep promises to myself.
